FIELD, EUGENE. Poems of Childhood, New York: Scribner's, undated (1920s). Large octavo, expanded edition with added poetry, pp. x, 199, black cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine and Maxfield Parrish illustration mounted on front, 8 illustrated plates by Parrish. This edition was an expansion of the 1904 first edition, with added poetry by Mary French Field and Julia Sutherland Field. The surreal endpage illustrations -- with a boy battling a giant who is riding an apparently cooked red lobster -- are retained here, as are all the other Parrish illustrations. Condition of this book: Chunk missing from lower corner of Parrish illustration mounted on dust jacket; overall the jacket is fair with stains and chips at the edges. It's all protected under Brodart. The book is near fine with minor rubbing at extremities and ordinary age-toning; Parrish plates fine.
