Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer publicity shots and stills for the 1933 film "Queen Christina," starring Greta Garbo as the queen and John Gilbert as her Spanish lover. 3 8x10 gelatin silver prints on resin-coated paper and one slightly smaller print of the same nature, two stills from the film and two publicity shots of just Garbo. 3 of the 4 prints are labeled in the negative. The film features Garbo as the 17th-century Swedish queen who abdicated to be with her non-royal lover -- a total Hollywood fabrication, as the real queen reputedly was a lesbian who abdicated after announcing that she had no intention of getting married to provide an heir. Anyway, Garbo's mannish clothing in one of these prints provides a hint of the queen's true nature. Condition of these prints: All images fine except for the throne-room print, which shows a trace of bleed-through from the MGM stamp on the reverse.
